The AAAA invites members to get involved by serving on a committee or subcommittee. Support your profession by being active in the work of the AAAA.

To join a committee/subcommittee, please email [email protected] and include your name, the committee that you wish to join, and your preferred contact information.

If you are an existing member of a committee and wish to continue to serve on that committee, notify the AAAA via email at [email protected]. Contact information for committee chairs may be accessed via the online membership directory.

Committee members are responsible for materially participating in committee meetings during the AAAA Annual Meeting and during any committee conference call.

The following summaries outline the functions of each committee/subcommittee that members may join:

Governance Committee

The Governance Committee of at least four members shall be created and announced at the Second Quarter Board meeting subsequent to the annual election. The Immediate Past President shall serve as Chairperson of the Governance Committee. The goal of the committee is to facilitate the Board of Directors, including but not limited to leadership development, new board member orientation, strategic planning, organization, and communication with membership about AAAA goals and values.

2019 Chair – Nick Davies, CAA

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is a standing committee of the AAAA led by the Treasurer. Other standing members of the committee shall include the President, President-Elect, Executive Director, and at least two additional members with experience managing finances. The committee’s main goals are to organize the budget process and oversee revenue generation, including the Legislative Fund Subcommittee.

Legislative Fund Subcommittee

The Legislative Fund Subcommittee supplements the Finance Committee. The subcommittee’s main goal is to oversee revenue generation for the legislative fund which helps finance advocacy efforts toward state licensure expansion and protection.

Chair - Trine Vik, CAA

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee Chairperson is appointed by the President. The committee’s main goal is to oversee all member benefits, including but not limited to the Anesthesia Record newsletter, website, affiliated programs, and the annual meeting. Other goals include the effective retention of current members and recruitment of new members and the accurate reporting to membership about member benefits and AAAA service to members.

Communication Subcommittee

The Communications Subcommittee oversees all communication to members, including the Anesthesia Record, AAAA’s various social media handles, and the website.  The committee seeks to draw upon the attitudes and experiences of members through survey instruments and member inquiries.

Chair - Katie Noel, CAA

Annual Meeting Subcommittee

The Annual Meeting Subcommittee produces the AAAA annual meeting, including confirmation of qualified speakers and generation of content relevant to current and future practice of AAs.

Chair - Samantha Evankovich, CAA

Practice Committee

The Practice Committee supports current AA practice and encourages expansion into new AA work states. The committee researches solutions to AA practice and payment challenges at the state and local level and responds to member inquiries.

Chair - Jana McAlister, CAA

 

Legislative Committee

The Chairperson of the Legislative Committee is appointed by the President. The committee’s goal is to organize and manage all AA legislative activity, work toward delegatory authority, and state practice expansion.
