Summary:
Performs certain patient-related tasks not requiring the immediate attention of a physician anesthesiologist. At no time, however, will they function without the supervision (the physician is immediately available) and ultimate review of such physician anesthesiologist. Upholds the standards of the system-wide customer service program.

 

Required:
For CRNA - Nursing Degree and have completed a nurse anesthetist training program in an accredited institution. Licensed in the State of Ohio and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. Graduate nurse anesthetist must have passed the AANA (American Association of Nurse Anesthetist) certification examination within two years of graduation date. Current BLS Certification or obtains within 90 days of hire.

For AA - must be a graduate of an approved anesthesiologist assistant training program. Graduate AA's must have passed National Commission on Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants Exam (NCCAA) within two years of graduation date or eligibility.

Case Western Reserve University, Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a junior level faculty position: Assistant Program Director. This is a non-tenure track position at the rank of Instructor, and the majority of time will be spent on administrative duties. This position is an academic position within the confines of the Cleveland-based Master of Science in Anesthesia Program of Case Western Reserve University.

 

Responsibilities and Duties: Assist the Program Director in directing, administering, coordinating, and overseeing the administrative, student services, and faculty support aspects of the MSA Program-Cleveland. Ensure that activities meet the program’s mission, goals, and objectives. Ensure that activities comply with accreditation requirements, and with university, school, and program policies and procedures.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Qualified applicants should be a certified anesthesiologist assistant (CAA) with an advanced degree and must be actively practicing as an CAA in a clinical setting. The preferred candidate will have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience as an administrator, teacher, and CAA, and will have a proven track record in MS program development and in clinical anesthesia. Excellent management, clinical, education, organizational, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills are essential. Excellent written and oral communication skills necessary.

Anesthesiology Assistant - Cleveland, OH

Responsibilities:
Contributes to patient safety by:
- Providing a safe environment for patients.
- Reporting safety concerns, errors and near misses.
- Participating in system improvement initiatives to prevent errors.
- Providing evidence-based care as applicable to the role.
- Skilled in the provision of patient-care to neonate through geriatric patients
- Transports patients to and from surgery.
- Positions patients for spinal epidural or nerve block anesthesia.
- Pass endotracheal tubes.
- Performs venous and arterial punctures and/or cannulizations.
- Prepare and inject drugs as ordered.
- Maintain clinical records.
- Collect data pre- and post-operatively to enable the physician to choose suitable agents and techniques for anesthetic procedures and post-operative care.
- Draws blood samples.
- Administer mechanical ventilation as ordered and adjust within prescribed limits.
- Administer prescribed anesthetic drugs.
- Monitor vital signs during the course of anesthesia.
- Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Required:
Must be a graduate of an approved anesthesiologist assistant training program by the American Medical Association’s Council on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA), and/or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
Graduate anesthesiologist assistants must have passed the National Commission on Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants Examination (NCCAA) within two years of graduation date or eligibility.
